Physician-led root-cause medicine · Massachusetts & New Hampshire
RootSeek is a virtual medical program for adults with complex chronic illness — the fatigue, brain fog, gut trouble and inflammation nobody has fully explained. Led by Mark Su, MD, FAAFP, we find what has been missed, map it out in one picture, and walk it with you.
A 15-minute call with our care coordinator. No cost, no pressure, and you will know exactly what a program involves before you decide anything.
Sound familiar?
You are not a difficult patient. You are a complex one, and complex is a different kind of visit. A standard appointment is built to handle one problem in fifteen minutes. It does not work when several body systems are talking to each other and every specialist is looking at only one of them.
The conditions we see most
Water damage & mold
When a building stays wet, mold and bacteria grow and release spores and compounds into the air people breathe. Most people are fine. Some people find their health is affected, and the connection is rarely obvious: it comes on slowly and looks a lot like ordinary life. People under the same roof can respond completely differently.
Dr. Su is president of the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness and trains other clinicians in this exact area. If there has been moisture, a leak, a flood, or mold where you live or work, the two-minute check is the right place to start. It is free, and “nothing at all” is a useful answer too.
What we actually look for
Mold in a building you left years ago. A tick bite you barely remember. A virus you never fully cleared. Ten years of four hours of sleep. A genetic quirk in how you clear toxins. Any one of these alone might not have been enough to tip you over, which is exactly why single answers keep failing you. Together, they were enough.
Symptoms are the tip. Most of the load sits out of sight. We map what is beneath the surface, then lower it, piece by piece, in an order your body can handle.
Most of the people we work with have already tried the right things: better sleep, a cleaner diet, the antimicrobial protocol, the detox support. They tried them in an order their body was not ready for, so the results did not last, and they walked away believing the treatment failed them.
When the same interventions are sequenced around what your system can actually handle right now, the ones that did nothing before often start working. Two patients with the same symptoms rarely need the same plan. Reading which pattern is which is the skill, and it is what twenty-three years of complicated cases teaches.
How it works
No waitlist. Everything happens by video and through your patient portal, with a real phone number and a team that answers it.
A 15-minute conversation with our care coordinator. We listen, answer questions, and tell you honestly whether we are a fit.
A video visit with one of our clinicians, then testing chosen for your story. Tiered, so you only test what matters.
Every result, past and present, unified into one picture of what is driving your symptoms, with a recorded walkthrough.
A sequenced plan with a physician, a clinician, a nurse and a coach all working from the same map.
The same questions asked at intake, re-asked every quarter, side by side, with lab changes where we have them.
The Personalized Health Map
Your Personalized Health Map pulls together every lab result you have, going back years, and shows you in plain language what is actually driving your symptoms and what we are treating first, second, and third.
It is organized the way Dr. Su thinks about a complex case: what is happening inside your body systems, what is coming at you from outside (environment, exposures, infections), and the state of your barriers (gut, skin, airways) that stand between the two. Dr. Su designs and signs off on every map. You receive the map itself and a recorded video explaining it, so you can watch it as many times as you need and share it with the people who matter.
What the map answers
Programs
Both programs run for six months. You will know exactly what each costs, in full, on your first call, before you decide anything. Most patients need six months to a year of active care before moving to maintenance.
For people after a known exposure, or who want a guided, lower-intensity beginning with a real care team behind them.
Step up to Momentum at any point if your clinician sees that you need more.
For complex chronic illness: testing, your Personalized Health Map, and the closest level of support while your body stabilizes.
The goal is for you to need us less. As you stabilize, we move you toward habits, routines and independence, with your team still there whenever you want us.
We do not bill insurance, and we do not hide the price. HSA and FSA funds can be used, and superbills are provided for visits so you can seek reimbursement.
Why RootSeek
Your care is directed by an MD who has spent his career inside the complicated cases other practices could not sort out, not by a coach or a packaged protocol.
Every result you have, unified into one document that shows what is driving your symptoms and what we treat first.
Every step forward asks less of you in time, in cost, and in reliance on us. Rare in this market, and worth saying plainly.
You will not be handed off. Your physician, your clinician, your nurse and your coach all work from the same map, and you know the price before you enroll.
Your physician
Dr. Su has practiced medicine on the North Shore of Massachusetts since 2003 and has spent more than twenty-three years in full-time patient care. Trained at Cornell, Indiana University School of Medicine and Tufts, he was Academic Chief Resident at Tufts and one of ten physicians in the country to receive the Mead-Johnson Award for scholastic performance in a family medicine residency.
His clinical focus for two decades has been chronic inflammation and the illnesses that hide behind it: mold and water-damage exposure, Lyme and tick-borne disease, autoimmunity, long COVID, mast cell activation, and immune deficiency. He is president of the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness, sits on the medical advisory board of MedSystems, has authored peer-reviewed papers and chapters, and teaches other clinicians at national conferences. He founded RootSeek in 2021 so the patients who could not get to his office could still get his thinking.
In their words
Thank you for never giving up on me. No one gets me — my family, my friends, definitely not the doctors I’ve seen so far. Thank you for giving me hope again.

Functional Medicine Reality Podcast
Every week, Dr. Su and his co-hosts go beyond quick fixes to uncover the root causes of illness: Lyme and co-infections, mold, gut dysbiosis, hormones, and the hard-to-solve cases where conventional medicine stops short. Episodes alternate between clinician interviews and unscripted, real patient consultations.

Questions
Everything is virtual, by secure video and through your patient portal. Our clinicians are licensed to care for patients who are located in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. If you live elsewhere, request a call anyway: we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do, and point you toward resources where we can.
No. RootSeek is a cash-pay practice, which is what lets us spend real time with you. We provide superbills for visits that you can submit for possible reimbursement, and HSA and FSA funds can be used. Lab testing is billed to you by the lab, and many labs can be submitted to insurance.
We share the full price of every program on your first call, before you commit to anything, and it does not change once you enroll. There are two ways in, Reset and Momentum, and your care coordinator will tell you which one makes sense for your situation. For the most complex cases, a higher-touch tier led personally by Dr. Su is available on request.
Dr. Su designs and signs off on every Personalized Health Map, leads the monthly group visit, oversees every treatment protocol, and is available for complex-case consultation. Your month-to-month visits are with a clinician on his team (a physician assistant, nurse practitioner or naturopathic physician) who works from the same map, alongside a nurse and a health coach.
About six weeks from your first consultation to the start of your program. Most patients need six months to a year of active care before transitioning to maintenance. We are honest about that up front, because quick fixes are what most of our patients have already tried.
Possibly, and you do not need to be sick to start. Exposure and symptoms do not always show up together, which is exactly why a baseline is worth having. Start with the free two-minute check on our water damage and mold page; “nothing at all” is a real and useful answer.
Yes. Our licensed clinicians can order testing and prescribe medication for patients located in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, when it is clinically appropriate and within a care relationship.
People looking for primary care, urgent care, or a single prescription; people who need hands-on, in-person care; and people who want a one-time consultation rather than a treatment relationship measured in months. If that is you, we would rather tell you on the first call than after.
